DR.
KENNETH B. MAYERS
Dr.
Mayers graduated in 1992 from the National College of Chiropractic
in Lombard, Illinois. Dr. Mayers has been in private practice since
1992, and has continued his postgraduate education with courses of
study in Neurology, Spinal Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and a number
of specific chiropractic techniques. Additionally, Dr. Mayers is certified
in Active Release Soft Tissue Techniques for the treatment of cumulative
trauma disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome and a variety of other
nerve and muscle impingement disorders.
In
addition to treating a wide range of health conditions related to
musculoskeletal dysfunction, Dr. Mayers has taken a particular interest
in treating patients with the following conditions:
Chronic
Headaches - Recent medical research has confirmed a strong causal
relationship between neck dysfunction and headaches. Dr. Mayers offers
his patients a variety of treatment options for lasting relief from
headaches without the use of medication.
Vestibular
Disorders - Patients with vestibular disorders (Dizziness and
Vertigo) can be evaluated to determine if they are good candidates
for vestibular rehabilitation. Treatment programs for patients with
chronic dizziness are based on the findings of research conducted
by Dr. Mayers in cooperation with S. Thomas Westerman M.D. between
1997 and 1999. The treatment programs developed have resulted in an
80-90% success rate. The goals of treatment are reduction of symptoms,
improvement of balance, and a reduction in the need for medication.
Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome And Neuromuscular Impingement Syndromes - Dr.
Mayers is certified in Active Release Technique which has proven effective
in reducing and correcting cumulative trauma disorders such as carpal
tunnel syndrome. Active release can also be effective for a wide variety
of soft tissue disorders including nerve entrapment, muscular impingement,
myofascitis, and joint restriction.
Sports
Injuries - In addition to his work as a physician, Dr. Mayers
also has experience working as a personal trainer with athletes and
non-athletes alike. This experience has proven helpful not only for
treating injured athletes, but also for helping athletes attain better
performance through improved body mechanics and advanced training
methods. |
